Mounting Exterior Wood Shutters

Mounting Instructions

TYPICAL MOUNTING IN MIDWEST AREA:

Shutters are mounted directly to a wall surface. To allow for wood drying from moisture they MUST have at least a 1/2" shim placed between the shutter and the wall surface. This IS VITALLY IMPORTANT to allow the shutter to "breathe." Skipping this step will trap moisture in the shutter causing it to decay. Mount shutters using six screws placed at rail locations. WE PROVIDE YOU THE NEEDED SPACERS AND ATTACHMENT SCREWS.

TRADITIONAL MOUNTING OPTIONS:

Cedar Shutters are manufactured to be hinged, however shutters may be mounted directly to the surface of the house and used only for aesthetic purposes.

Aesthetic Mount: Mounted to Brick: Mounted to Frame:

MOUNTING HARDWARE:

Shutter "S" Holdbacks:

$35.00 per set of 2 (for 2 panels)

Steel Construction, plated before final flat black finish. Application of non-rattling spring requires a minimum space of 1 3/8" between wall and shutter.

Hinge for 1-1/8" Shutters: Ideal for Bahama Shutters. Hung flush with casing.

$30.00 per set of 2 (for 1 panel)

Hinges measure 4-3/16" vertical, 5" horizontal, 1" width. Two shutters require two pairs of hinges. Larger shutters may require additional hinges. Stamped steel.

ACME Lull & Porter Mortised Hinge:

1 set = 2 Right-handed hinges, 2 left-handed hinges, 2 sets of fasteners (enough hardware to do one window). No screws. Cast iron.
