APPLIANCE PANELS

Certain brands and models of side-by-side refrigerators and dishwashers can be fitted with wood appliance panels, given the existence of appropriate trim kits for the appliances. The following assumes the "standard" appliance but can be modified to address specialized appliances; eg SubZero

Refrigerator s/s:
$720. Based on average sizes and presuming red oak wood.  Installation not included.

The freezer door presumes two panels for above and below the water dispenser. The refrigerator door presumes what looks like one full-length panel but is really two panels abutting each other up/down. The lower panel is usually the same height of the lower freezer panel. This allows panels of limited lengths for stability of design.  All panels are mounted on ¼” matching plywood backers that fit within the trim kit’s ¼” gap. The door panels are sized ½” narrower on all sides, and 2” at the handle if the handle is full length with side access.

Each appliance panel is a square raised panel door of the wood choices, styles, and configurations we have available. Other woods and panel styles may have a slight surcharge. Each panel is ordered narrower and shorter that the required backer panel size based on the appliance kit specification sheets. The panel is then mounted on matching ¼” furniture grade plywood with screws from the back. The ½” of protruding ¼” plywood then fits easily into the metal appliance molding kit. Final notching of the plywood corners may be required and should be performed by the installer.

We will pre-finish to match existing cabinetry best practical given a reasonable understanding about wood grain variations, new wood and new finish. We are good but perfection is not guaranteed.

Dishwasher o/u:
$450.Based on average sizes and presuming oak wood. Installation not included.

The same approach as for refrigerators is used, but the panel edges at the door hinge usually requires 1” of plywood at edges to allow for door pivot clearance.

Ordering Requirements:

At order placement we will need to see a sample door from the kitchen in order to guide the consumer in their choices regarding wood, door specifications, and final size requirements per the paperwork supplied with the appliance trim kit. We will need the door again when we perform the finishing work.

Installation Options for Kansas City area or criteria for your information for your area:

• Fitting and installation of wood appliance panels, given no unexpected problems, is $120 set-up/travel plus $240 per s/s refrigerator and $180 per dishwasher.  All charges will be on actual time charged basis.
• Fitting and attachment of the trim kit, if not already installed, is not fully predictable. The presumption is $240 for s/s refrigerator and $120 for dishwasher.
